all about
Stop AAPI Hate
our april organization of the month!
Each, Feminist Doodles selects an organization involved in providing services, education, and support to underrepresented populations and communities in need. This month, in light of the violence and acts of hate being experienced by the Asian community across the country, we are contributing a portion of proceeds to Stop AAPI Hate - read more below about what they are doing and how you can help.
What is Stop AAPI Hate?
The Stop AAPI Hate reporting center was launched on March 19, 2020. This new organization tracks and responds to reports of hate, harassment, discrimination, and violence against this community. They offer a simple tool on their website to help victims report an incident that they’ve witnessed or been a victim of.
Stop AAPI Hate was launched as a result of the increase in violent incidents and hate crimes during the COVID-19 pandemic, and is a joint collaboration between the Asian Pacific Planning and Policy Council, Chinese for Affirmative Action, and the Asian American Studies Department of San Francisco State University. These groups have a shared understanding that for Asian racism to decrease, they must also work to end racism against Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color in the US.
What does Stop AAPI Hate do?
When it comes to reporting an incident with Stop AAPI Hate, you’ll find this service is available in a wide range of languages. Anyone who has been the victim of an incident can head straight to their website to register their concerns. The team at Stop AAPI Hate works to identify who these attacks are happening to and where they are occurring. They believe that everyone’s story is important, and by gathering more information, they can offer everyone better protection. After reporting your incident, this data will be used to build educational resources and policies to put an end to this issue.
